This text provides an overview of how you can fulfill your toll obligations (in Poland).
This electronic toll system has been used since July 1, 2011, on selected sections of Polish roads. It applies to vehicles with a total weight of over 3.5 tons, meaning they are required to pay tolls on the viaTOLL road sections. The tolls are collected using the viaBOX device.
By purchasing a viaBOX (vehicle device), registering it at service and distribution points of viaTOLL, you can fulfill your toll obligations. The registration itself is free of charge; however, you must pay a deposit for the viaBOX. Additionally, the registered viaBOX must be loaded with funds, as the toll can only be paid after loading the device.
Since October 2021, you are required to pay your toll via e-TOLL. The device previously used for toll payment in the form of the viaBOX is now replaced by an OBU (On-Board Unit) or ZSL (ZSL On-Board Unit) in the e-TOLL system. These two devices for data collection allow automatic toll payment. In e-TOLL, satellite-based vehicle location (GPS) is used, so once the e-TOLL app or the on-board unit is activated, the location of your vehicle can be tracked. This allows the kilometers driven on toll roads to be calculated and added up.
After registering in the e-TOLL app, you need to create a billing account. You can fund your account by transferring money via bank transfer or by making cash payments at customer service points (MOK). Other payment options for tolls include:
