The second day of our journey took us to the legendary Bohemian Paradise (Český Ráj), an area that seems straight out of a fairy tale. Known for its unique landscape of sandstone towers, lush forests, and dreamy villages, the Bohemian Paradise offered the perfect terrain for our adventurous spirit.
Our first stop was Kost Castle, one of the best-preserved Gothic castles in Bohemia. At the sight of this majestic fortress, standing proudly and invincibly over the landscape, we could almost feel the deep history contained within its walls. The tour of the castle was like a journey back in time to the Middle Ages, with each room and corridor having its own story to tell.
We continued to the market square of Jičín, a town considered the gateway to the Bohemian Paradise. The square, surrounded by colorful Baroque buildings and lined with cobblestone streets, offered us a picturesque glimpse into the urban life of this region.
An absolute highlight of the day was our one-hour walk through the labyrinth of the Prachov Rocks. These striking sandstone rock formations, towering towards the sky, provided us with a spectacular natural spectacle. We wound our way through narrow gorges and crossed small bridges, while being enchanted by the breathtaking beauty of this natural setting.
We spent the rest of the day back in Harrachov, a place that impresses not only with its beautiful nature but also with its relaxed atmosphere. We took the time to explore the local shops, try the local cuisine, and simply unwind. After a day full of discoveries and new impressions, it was a true pleasure to relax in the peaceful surroundings of Harrachov and recharge for the upcoming days of our journey.
