The seventh day of our exploration through the Czech Republic took us through the picturesque Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, a region known for its impressive landscapes and historical sites.
Our first stop was in Jihlava, a city with a rich history and a charming old town. We enjoyed a walk through the bustling streets, admiring the well-preserved historic buildings that bear witness to Jihlava's significant past as a mining town.
From there, we continued to Kácov, where we visited the impressive Holy Trinity Column, another example of the Czech Republic’s artful Baroque architecture. This column, a magnificent monument dedicated to faith and craftsmanship, stands majestically in the heart of the town.
A special experience was the journey onward by a public train to Český Šternberk. The train ride offered us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the region from a different perspective. Upon arriving in Český Šternberk, we visited the medieval castle of the same name, which lies in the Sázava Valley. This imposing castle, which has stood over the river for centuries, provided a fascinating insight into medieval life and the history of the Czech Republic.
Our last destination of the day was Tábor, the former center of the Hussite movement. This historic town, known for its winding alleys and underground city, offered us a unique experience. We strolled through the narrow streets, discovered hidden corners, and immersed ourselves in the mysterious world of underground passages that once served as shelters and storage spaces.
The day ended with a deep sense of admiration for the diversity and depth of Czech history and culture, reflected in the towns and landscapes we explored that day.
